Affair Run! does not really introduce a different playing rule other than the conventional one most racing games adopt, despite of the differences in themes and elements. The general game control and mechanisms are more or less the same. Players start each level by tapping the “start” button on their interface. While they are on the run, they will encounter with many different objectives on their route. Those encounters are in different colors and are randomly positive or negative for their game results. When players spot a red target, they generally need to react timely to avoid bumping into those ones. For example, couples in Affair Run! may run into red characters with certain numbers. In those cases, their relationship duration would be deducted according to the red number they hit. Therefore, it is always a good idea to get around those reds ahead of time. Besides, players make progress in the game by making good decisions on their long-term and heathy relationships, which will be tested by various gates on their way. Those parallel gates often present players with different numbers that impact the length of relationship or marriage. Players must do quick math calculations to get into the best gates that maximize their romance, or to take the ones with less loss. What’s more, when players identify other couples on their way with lower or equal level as theirs, they can bash them to gain extra bonuses. Apart from that, players also randomly find cars on the route and in that case, they should take advantage of the car, which speeds up their game progress and eliminate all the obstacles for a limited amount of time. At the end of each level, players will be rewarded with cash coins that they can spend on home upgrading, such as buying new furniture or unlocking new rooms. However, they cannot use the rewards on performance upgrades. Instead, at the beginning of each level, performance boosters are available through ads-wall and players can decide whether they want those boosters or not.
